These bills can stop biomass subsidies & prevent deadly pollution!
Governor Baker is trying to roll back Massachusetts’ renewable energy standards to allow large, polluting wood-burning power plants like Palmer to collect millions of dollars per year in renewable energy subsidies funded by Massachusetts ratepayers. We can't let that happen.
UPDATE: The Massachusetts Senate has passed legislation that would remove biomass subsidies from state renewable energy programs. Read a memo here.
In the 2021-2022 No Toxic Biomass urges support and passage of the following bills:

2) An Act ensuring a healthy future for environmental justice communities
This bill disqualifies any highly polluting facility from being eligible for the Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) if it is located near an environmental justice community.

No Subsidies for polluting biomass (S.2197 and H.3333)
Please do 2 things this week:

Contact your state representative and urge them to co-sponsor H.3333 to remove woody biomass from the RPS and the APS (or thank them if they are already co-sponsors)

Ask your state senator to help pass S2197, which is currently pending in Senate Ways and Means.
